Nightstand

I was tagged by Tiff over at Chronicles of Conception.... I was also tagged by L. a few posts ago, however, as much as I know that I have been to L.'s blog before, the link was broken and I couldn't get to her blog to figure out what I had been tagged for... I know, I am a bad blogger... alas...

Rules, rules, rules: post what you’ve got on the table (chair, nightstand, whatever) beside your bed. Leave nothing out. Nothing. Link back to the kind person who tagged you and then tag 3 other folks. Really tag them - none of this “whoever hasn’t done this meme yet” tagging.

Lets see, I have a "classic" bedside table with 2 drawers. On top is...
1. A digital, leather looking clock that I found on mega clearance at Target for $6 and change
2. A blue ceramic candle holder with a tea light candle in it
3. A blue Asian pillar candle holder with a 3x4 Biscotti scented candle on it
4. A little gold bowl in which I keep my "High Maintenance" Lip Balm (you guys HAVE to go to David and Goliath, Inc. It is the coolest shop- I mean, who else sells lip balm with names like "Chillin with My Gnomies", "Jesus is a Honkey", and "Lil' Slut"... not to mention the fact that the flavors are nummy nummy AND it does the job a great lip balm should!)... it also contains my vicks inhaler and random hair clippies and earring backs.
5. I also have our baby monitor (funny, because our baby sleeps in our bed with us...)
6. A burp cloth
7. A fictional novel called Midwives

That is everything on top... I won't go into what is INSIDE the nightstand, but I will say that the top drawer is "clean", and the bottom drawer, is, well,... "dirty"

Total Slacker!!!

Wow, it was Mindi that called me on it this time "wow, you haven't posted a new blog lately!"... apparently, you guys enjoyed the pictures of the family I posted 6 days ago to keep you satiated for 6. whole. days...

Not much new stuff to report really. I am back at work (I am a waitress) 3 nights a week. It has been a little rough for me and Mindi alike. I cry every time I leave my little bundle, and Mindi is stuck with the baby alone for 4-8 hours, depending. That last part may not seem tough to anyone else that has a partner with a 9-5 job, but we are used to being together (the three of us) all the time so, well, it is different for us. If I am ever going nutso because the baby is screaming and I can't figure out why, I can usually hand him over to mindi for a few moments of sanity recuperation... and, vice versa. But, with me off serving other people besides my baby and Mindi (wink) Mindi has to fare it alone. Some nights are better than others, as would be expected.

As some of you may recall, I was doing the South Beach Diet a few weeks back. I highly recommend this diet to anyone who wants to either lose weight, or simply form better eating habits. It is really a great diet, and I have been successful at it a number of times, but for some reason, my body wasn't having it this time. I got pretty frustrated after dropping a mere 4 Lbs. over the course of 3 weeks. (Typically, 3 weeks of phase One would have had me at least 10-12 Lbs lighter). I decided, that since I REALLY want to lose weight before I get pregnant again, I would try something else. So, I ordered MediFast. It is basically a low calorie shakes and bars deal. I am beginning my third day on the diet today. I ordered the 4 week plan, and when I got the boxes of food in the mail, I basically stuck 5 mix packets together and tied them up. So now, I have this box of "food" sitting on my dining room table of little hot-cocoa looking packets in bundles. It is... interesting... You can see below, that each bundle is an entire days worth of food (minus a "lean & green" meal that I prepare myself). I really hope it works- I am getting sick of the flabbies...

We also attended our childbirth class reunion! That was fun! There were only 4 couples in the class, and one of the couples was, unfortunately, a no-show, but it was nice to meet the other 2 babies and parents! This picture is a great one showing just how short Mindi and I are. Of course, the other parents were all fairly tall, but I bet you that Harris will be as tall as the tallest guy in the picture... our donor was that tall...

I see playdates in our future...!

I figured I would add these last 2 pictures because they are darn tootin' cute!

Simply Lovely

Mindi, Harris and I decided to get out of the house yesterday. It was pleasantly not freezing, not windy, and sunny- we figured we would take advantage of it. We packed the diaper bag, the boy and our awesome stroller into the car, (which I love MORE AND MORE every time we use it...) and drove to the K****A Japanese Garden- the little ray of sunshine on the wart of our hideous little section of Seattle. It was fantastic! We strolled around, enjoying the rhododendrons that were just getting ready to bloom gloriously (I think we will go back in a few weeks to check the progress), and enjoyed the fountains and waterfalls dotting the landscape. We fed the boy a bottle and had a little photo shoot with Momma Mindi and Harris. It was a sweet day- one I am eager to repeat!

P.S.- for the other lesbian moms with children that have started to "talk" to you- what do your kids call the 2 of you? Mom and Mom or..... I am struggling with this one...

Just for Johnny

(and, of course, anyone else who happens to view this...)

I promised a friend (hi Johnny) that I would post a picture of Harris' placenta JUST FOR HIS VIEWING PLEASURE. Then, I realized that some people may not actually want to see the placenta, being that it is an organ and all, so instead, I am posting a direct link to the "Placenta picture" on my Flickr account. If you go to my Flickr account to view the PLACENTA, please, feel free to snoop around a bit :).

Clarity

Ok friends, there seemed to be many inquiries about my last post... To set the record staright, YES Mindi and I will be trying for Harris' sibling ASAP. (hence the pregnancy tests, sperm, etc.

I am currently still waiting for my first post partum period, but I have an appointment with my Ob/Gyn on April 3rd. During that appointment, I will most likely get my annual exam, and I will also be consulting on the potential to have her jumpstart my periods. Before becoming pregnant with Harris, I was diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). Many of you may be familiar with it- I know ther were a few other girls that had the same problem. PCOS basically screws up ovulation and cycles. She may, once again, give me an Rx for Metformin, which will help my ittle ovaries calm down and start working again, along with (possibly) progesterone to get aunt flo in gear. Because I am not breastfeeding, my period should not stay away for long. At that appointment, I will speak to her about when it is feasable for us to begin IUIs again. I know that there is a possibility that I could get pregnant right away, and I know that there is a possibility that I may not get pregnant for 2 more years. We just have to try try try. If I could have my wish, I would get pregnant again RIGHT AWAY. Some people may think that I am crazy, but here is my reasoning...

1. I want a sibling for Harris that is VERY CLOSE in age. I want this because I feel (from my own experience, as well as Mindi's) that siblings closer in age are more closely bonded during their childhood through adolesence.

2. I am really excited to give birth again. While I did not especially enjoy being pregnant, I LOVED the experience of giving birth- man, it was INCREDIBLE!!!

3. If Mindi and I decide that we want more than 2 kids, we will not be getting too old to have a whole whord of them... ;)

4. More tax deductions. No, that was just a joke ha ha.

And for your viewing pleasure, her is a little video of tummy time- yes, he makes noise! A lot of noise! Weeee!

Note to Self...

I love the fact that I have a widget on my computer desktop that looks like a Post-It note. You know what else I love? The fact that that little Post-It note on my computer desktop contains the words: Buy Sperm.

I just love it! The website is currently "experiencing problems" so I will have to remember to do it tomorrow, as well as call the sperm storage place to give them the heads up to expect the shipment, as well as pay my $200 storage fee, and call the Dr.'s office to schedule a pap smear and yearly exam... teehee!

This is the first step towards: Project Sibling

I love me some diapers!

You know, I wonder if they make diapers anonymous... I am back at it again girls! About 2 weeks ago, I purchased my first Serger (SCORE!) I was SO EXCITED about it, because I really wanted to make cloth wipes so that I could get rid of the tiny, slimy, chemical-laden, forget-about-using-just-one-for-a-poop disposable wipes. I bought some terrycloth and some flannel and went to town! I made about 30ish wipes and I LOVE them! I made them about 5inches by 8inches to fit perfectly in my Prince Lionheart wipes warmer (which I really love and can be purchased at BRU and Wal-Fart). I make my own solution of about 12 ounces warm water, a dollop of baby wash and a smidge of tea tree oil. It smells lovely (assuming you like TT oil) and it cleans up messes 10,000 times better than aforementioned disposable wipes. And, I just toss them into my diaper pail when I am done using them. It is as easy as pie!

So, after acquiring my new serger and going to town on the cloth wipes (and might I mention that the cloth wipe project was just kind of practice, as it was the first time I had ever used a serger...) I decided that I wanted to tweak my cloth diaper pocket insert design because they were kind of, well, falling apart...

I have picked out some delicious new fabric and I am going to town on them today! I will let you know how they turn out... wheeee!

and the token boy picture...(cuz I take a million a day...)

EC Update

I have had inquiries about the current Elimination Communication progress. Well, we are still going strong! In the last 5 weeks, I have probably had to change a total of 6 poopy diapers. Not to bad for a new mom with a 10 week old baby!! Wahoo! I would consider us very part-time EC-ers. Our goal is really not to try to get our baby to be diaper free (although some people want that and it is attainable with diligence...) Our goal is really just to get him used to the idea of eliminating somewhere other than just his diaper. Hopefully, as he gets older, he will be able to identify the gratifying feeling of being dry and the ability to "hold it" till he gets to the potty. :)
