Never Won the Spelling Bee

I just re-read my last post... now I know why I never won the spelling bee... next time I should use the spell checker... whoops!

A Horse named Charlie

Wow, so sleeping has become a real challenge... I have a snoogle pregnancy body pillow that I use at night to help cradle me. Mindi HATES it- it is huge and bulky, and she feels as if there is a third person in the bed. I can feel her pain, and it makes it difficult to get up in the middle of the night to pee, but I consider it a necesary evil. I have found myself sleeping really late into the morning now which is ok I guess, but it is a bad habit to get into. I don't know how either one of us is going to handle the newborn up-every-2-hours-deal. I know we will manage.

I have started having dreams now about the baby. Last night, I dreampt for the first time that I had just given birth and was holding the baby in my arms. It was a pretty cute baby- we will see what it looks like in a month (plus).

2 nights ago I woke up to the worst Charlie Horse in my leg. Now, I thought that I had encountered charlie horses before during this pregnancy, but in retrospect, they were nothing more than muscle cramps. This particular one had me howling in pain, tearing up, and pounding the back of my calf like I was trying to tenderize a slab of beef. It was NOT FUN. My toes were stuck in the "pointe shoe" position- man, it was bad, and my leg is still sore today...

We have all of the baby linens washed now- that is exciting (to me). We don't have a whole lot of stuff, but there is plenty of time for us to amass more "stuff". Our next step is to buy and install the car seat...

Holy B-B-Baby!

Ahhhhh- we are at 32 weeks today... only 56 days to go until our Estimated Due Date! Yes, 8 weeks, or 10, OR 5! Yeh, that last number is a freaky one. In 5 weeks, we will be at 37 weeks, which is technically considered full term- and if my body, and this baby decide that they don't want to wait anymore, then this kid COULD be here! Realistically, they say that first time moms usually go to at least 40 weeks, if not a few days past their Due Date. That would be ok with me. Of course, ask me if it is still ok when I am at 38 weeks and I am so swollen and tired and have so much back pain that a morphine drip couldn't cure- and I might be singing a different tune...

Ok, Lynn, stop freaking yourself out... After all, I feel like we are pretty well prepared. Actually, no, lol now that I think about it, we are not prepared... The nursery is decorated, and the crib is set up BUT the baby won't be sleeping in the crib for the first 2 or 3 months, (s/he will be in a bassinet by our bed)so, the fact that we have our crib set up really doesn't mean squat. Not to mention the fact that if we were going to put the kid in the crib (for naps and such) we don't even have crib sheets... hmmmm- sheets would help... We don't have our carseat or stroller or changing table pad, or cover... no bottles (well, 2 or 3 misc ones that came in the mail for free or came in the diaper cake).... ok, I am starting to freak myself out... We have enough newborn diapers to last us a few days heh....heh...

Ok, ok, ok. Lynn! SNAP OUT OF IT!!! Now, I feel so ill-prepared! Typically, I am a planner. If I know that something is coming, I am usually totally ready for it. There is a tiny little snag in this plan though... we are Jewish, and "technically" we are not supposed to buy anything for the baby before the baby is actually born- it is kind of considered "bad luck" if you will. But then, how is one supposed to be prepared? I need to buy a darn carseat!

Maybe Bad Luck will pass me by if I keep the receipts... yeeeeh... I'll keep all the receipts!!!

Here is my burgeoning 32 week belly- eat your heart out baby!

I stand corrected...

Apparently, I have been misspelling one of my favorite words.. Macral. My loving wife just informed me that it is actually spelled Mackerel. I will probably not remember that next time, however, I guess it is a good thing to know! Thanks honey!

30week belly and bumpilicious

Holy Macral- only 10 more weeks to go!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

...Hee Hee Hoo...

Mindi and I just got back from our 2nd childbirthing class. So far, I am enjoying the classes, but I have to say that so far, I know about everything that is being taught. I am not a brainiac or anything, but I have read a lot of books on the subject, and so everything up until now has just been a refresher. We did do some cool relaxation and breathing techniques tonight though. We practiced them while holding ice cubes in our hand for 60-90 seconds to show how certain relaxation techniques worked for us compared to others. I am looking forward to next week's class! :)

Such a Slacker!

Ok, I have been a blogging slacker BUT I have been a nesting fiend!! There was a "junk" room that we had in our lower level that really needed a face lift! We have been considering making this the playroom when the wee one comes (and is a bit older) and so I had to get rid of all the crap that was stored in there. It will also be our guestroom for when mom comes from FL after the baby is born, so I wanted it to be cozy for her! I managed to put up some great curtains, fix the broken futon, clear out the storage armoire for her to use while she is here, hang a clock and some art, and install a closet system in the storage closet in that room. :) I am feeling fairly accomplished. Not only that, but I have been running around the house, purging our wire hangers (thank you "mommy dearest"), reorganizing our pantry, filing papers, working on completing the shed shelving project, along with organizing my tools, screws, and nails.... yes, I am NESTING.

We are leaving for our last trip to FL before the baby comes on Thursday. It is a short trip but I am not looking forward to the insanely long plane trip... Well, I need to go nest some more...

Home From the Babymoon

Wow- we had a FANTASTIC time! We spent five days and four nights in San Diego and it was just what we needed to help us prepare for baby. We did a lot of bonding and a lot of talking about the future. We did a lot of sight seeing and dining. The hotel was AWESOME. We stayed at the Hotel Solomar, a 4 star hotel in the Gaslamp district. It had an awesome rooftop pool and lounge. We visited Mission Beach, Balboa Park, the zoo, Tijuana and Old town. I think that the most interesting part of our excursions to me was Tijuana- it was fun to try and dodge the peddlers... I am so glad we put the time aside for "us" and I am Glad that we are now home. We picked up the crib today and it is now all set up in the nursery. I guess I am now obligated to post pictures of the nursery!! We took my 28week belly and bumpilicious pictures while we were in San Diego, and I just had to include a picture of my beautiful wife eating her room service oatmeal...

oh, and that one picture of me in front of Michael Jackson... that was a strange little wax museum we stopped at in Tijuana. Some of the sculptures were decent but some really sucked- that guy sitting in the picture behind me, for example, -that is SUPPOSED to be Tom Cruise... uh, yeh... it looked more like a dirty homless man...
