Did you know?

At 20 weeks, Mindi can put her ear up to my abdomen and actually hear the baby's heartbeat?! I read it on i-villiage that it was possible and so we tried it! It worked! She could hear my big pulse AND the bean's!

19w3d belly and GAP excursion

Yesterday, Mindi and I made the long trek back downtown for a GAP maternity excursion. Due to the realization that 1 pair of demi-panel maternity jeans just wasn't going to cut it, we went out in search of some full panel maternity jeans. You know, when wearing full panel maternity pants by themselves, with no top hiding them is a pretty frightening sight. They are, however, at least for me, the MOST comfortable maternity solution- I just feel like I am getting a full body hug mmmmm... SO, while we were in the fitting room, I had to indulge in shoving the stuffed fabric maternity belly in the panel for good measure, and mindi was ready, camera in hand for a simulated 38 weeks belly shot. Personally, I think I will get even bigger than the picture suggests...

Now comes the weekly belly and bumpilicious shots. Personally, I can see that I have been changing a lot in the last 2 weeks. The biggest change I can see right now is in the bumpilicious shot. My uterus is getting taller, shown by the "smoothing" of the bump into the rest of my torso...

Sweet Little Baby

We had another ultrasound today! It went very well- the baby looks fantastic! It yawned a few times, wiggled it's bum for us, and gave us a wave. For anyone wondering, we opted NOT to find out the sex of the baby. It was rough, but we did it. We got this great profile shot of the babe. We also got a short video of the ultrasound but it is on a VHS tape, so, until I figure out how to transfer it to the computer, it will have to wait!

18w3d belly shot and Bumpilicious shot

As time has gone on, I realize that I am really enjoying the "laying down belly shot"- it really gives a true idea of where my uterus and wee babe is located in my body. Everyday, I get people wanting to rub the baby bump, but they always end up rubbing above it, gently cooing at my squashed organs. I love this shot so much that I will include it from here on out with my belly shots :).

Aww, when are you due?

Holy Macral! I got pinned at the grocery store for the first time as a pregnant person! And it was a DUDE! He was a big jolly lookin' guy, standing with a lady friend behind me in the checkout line. He said "Awww, when are you due? December?" I was in shock lol. There must be something about that store- it was the same store in which the old lady told me to take another pregnancy test despite the negative test I had gotten that morning... trippy....

18 Weeks

We are at 18 weeks today- Only 6 more days until our Level II ultrasound! From what I think I understand, it is the longest ultrasound- they measure all the baby's 2000 parts etc etc. This is also the ultrasound that most people are able to find out the sex of the baby. Unfortunately for my readers, obsessed coworkers, and Mindi, we are going to keep the sex a surprise until they are born in December. Some people have been asking me how I can bear to NOT know. Am I curious? Sure. But I feel that nothing is ever a surprise anymore, and I really like surprises. Why don't i just have the technician tell Mindi? Because there is NO WAY that Mindi will be able to keep her mouth shut about it for 21 more weeks. She would just blurt it out on accident, so we figure that the only way to prevent a slip-up is to not know :).

Everyone has to brag sometimes...

This pic was taken by my awesome neighbor- she apologized for it being blurry, but personally, I think that this is one of the hottest pictures I have seen of my self in a long long time! I just thought I would share!

COngrats to the super Duper in control- you rock on wit yo bad self mama!

This is another prime real estate post for my chums J&J and their beautiful new daughter August. J just posted her fantabulous birth story and it was awesome! So, I figured, since she is so popular, and receives tons of comments on almost all of her posts, I would just comment to her on my prime real estate because I know that at some point, she will come read it. :) So, THANK YOU for posting the beautiful and fascinating birth story, CONGRATULATIONS for being able to achieve your goal birth experience (with a wee bit of help) and KUDOS to you for being such a trooper these last 2 weeks!!!

17w2d

We have reached 17weeks! Not much new going on- I am increasingly more and more uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. I toss and turn and my back complains to me... I get up to pee a lot and I wake up every time I find myself lying flat on my back (a no-no for pregnant women). I constantly have dreams that I am at work (I am a waitress) and at work I am always ovrerloaded with crabby, demanding customers. It makes for not very restful sleep, especially when I wake up in the morning and realize that I have to go back to work that night...

"Battling constipation? Get fiber on your side."

This is one of my favorite aspects of being pregnant- just in case you were wondering of course...

4 Lbs. Gained

We had another prenatal appointment today. It was fairly uneventful- they took my blood pressure, my weight, had me pee in a cup, and we listened to the baby's heartbeat. I found it to be fairly amusing, however, that to date, I have only gained 4 lbs. I guess I am actually quite happy about this, being that "gaining weight" has never been something that I aspired to do, however, I have read that by now, the average woman has gained 8-14 Lbs. I am sure that I will catch up- I am really not too worried about it.

Knock Knock... who's there?

I am not quite sure why I have not blogged about this before, but I am beginning to be able to feel the baby kick...er punch...or whatever. It is ever so light and sporadic, but I can definitely feel it. I can't wait until Mindi is able to feel it from the outside!

August Ruth

I am still anxiously awaiting the story of August Ruth's arrival into the world.... You know who you are! You had better post something soon! I would just leave a comment on your blog, but you already have like, 50,000 of them, so I will give this request prime real estate on MY blog- this is how much I care, after all!

Holy Bumpilicious!

So, Mindi got me a new, little camera that I can stick in my purse when I go out, and we were playing with it. I was laying on the floor (for some strange reason) and Mindi snapped a pic of my belly because I told her it felt like a big water balloon when I layed down flat. Well gee willakers! would you look at that?! IT REALLY IS A WATER BALLOON! In my belly! Now that is a trippy picture! I like to compare it to the very first picture I took of me laying down...

Week 16

So, we have reached week 16 :). All seems to be well these days. My online pals Jude and Jen just gave birth to their baby girl on the first (cute as a button she is!) I have been feeling OK too. The fatigue phase for me is long gone, but I do still tucker out easier than I used to. Mindi and I have been making good use of our Fetal Doppler to hear our little bean's heartbeat. It is quite an amazing sound! I have been having some wardrobe malfunctions now that I am growing out of my normal clothes. I wear my maternity jeans all the time now, and although they are still a wee bit big on me, they are so comfy! Right now, my favorite clothes are the maternity jeans, the little grey sweatshirt that my mummy bought for me at old navy, and a tank top (actually, what I am wearing in the picture!) Speaking of picture, I decided to stray from the typical belly shot this week, and take a few pictures including a scale picture of how big our baby is right now!! It is pretty neat I have to say myself :). It really helps me visualize! Enjoy!

The Coolest Things

I am not quite a tree hugger, but I do care about the environment, and like to try to be as "green" as possible in my life. Because of this fact, I always thought that I would go with cloth diapers in order to save our landfills from another 500 year contribution. Mindi was never too keen on the idea of cloth diapering, and I have to admit, it would be a little gross I think, but she understood my thinking and then we ran across these! They are called GDiapers and they are part cloth/ part disposable. I also have to say, that they are cute as a button!!!
