Fat and Not

I think that I have really been obsessing over this for the last few days. I really feel fat and blubbery right now. I realize that every pregnant woman goes through this phase, and let me tell you, it SUCKS! I was just looking at my "svelte" 5 week picture compared to my 15w picture EGAD! I just had to put the 2 together for my own sanity to remind myself, that the new belly is indeed the baby, and that I have actually LOST 2 pounds between 5 w and 15w! GOD HELP ME!

Happier things...

Color Scheme

I wanted to take a moment to share with you my vision for the nursery! Typically, I am the type of person that by this time (15w) I would thought I would have had the nursery completed. I am a project person. I get really excited about something, and I have to get it done! I was way too tired, however up until about 3 weeks ago to do anything, but I have recently just finalized in my head what I would like. Now, I speak in "I, I, I" not because I don't feel that Mindi has an opinion, but because she always nods in agreement whenever it comes to my design ideas. So, barring any vetoes from my girl (because she definitely has veto power!) Here are my ideas for the nursery. Let us also keep in mind here that we are not going to find out the sex of the baby!

This is the BEDSKIRT that I want to use:

The color scheme is originally based on this insanely expensive rug I saw at We have a very SMALL nursery, so all of the furniture pictured will be all of the furniture in the room- no more than that. Also, the dresser will double as a changing table when we install the changing pad on top.

14w5d belly shot

Ok, It is a little fuzzy, but you can still see it. I can totally tell (being inside me body and all) that I am getting bigger. In fact, just this last week, when Mindi was gone on a business trip, I really kindof popped out. Now, my pictures are all taken with me sucking in my tummy as far as I possibly can. I do this only because it is a "constant". I figure, I don't want to be pushing my tummy out in one picture, and not in another, so I just figured I would always suck it in. I guess it helps me through the "I feel like a potbelly pig" season that is the 4th month... I decided to include my 14w5d NOT sucking it in picture to show you what most people see on an average day too. Note, I am usually better dressed and my belly looks smoother when I am in normal clothes and not sucking it in...

Four Wonderful Years

Today is the 4 year anniversary of our first meeting and first date. I never would have imagined that night that four fantastic years later, I would be carrying our baby for her. We originally met online, and these are the first pictures I saw of my love. I love you Mindi!

The Cooking Extravaganza

So, my girl is out of town, and I was in need of some company, so I invited my friend, C. over to cook an insanely large meal with me and to put my good china to use, just so that we could say we did it. Then, after making the initial plan for this feast, we realized we would have leftovers up the wazoo and decided to invite my neighbors V. & G. over for dinner! It was a ton of fun.

On the menu was:

Crunchy Veggie Spread with carrot sticks
Peanut Fruit Spread with Celery sticks
Walnut Parmesan spread with homemade baguette toasts
Deviled Eggs

Red leaf lettuce salad with walnuts, dried cranberries, crumbled goat cheese, and homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing

Organic Baby Carrots (with green trimmed tops) with Dill Butter and Lemon
Smashed Potatoes with Shredded Carrots, Cheese and Corn

Main Dish:
Baked Spinach Filled Raviolies with Red Sauce

Blueberry Cheesecake Bars

Served with Red wine (not for my lips of course) and (easy as pie)Cucumber-Infused water

Here are some photos- Before the chaos began, the dinner table, and the aftermath...

Why do I do this to myself?

Why am I posting pictures of my blob belly? I guess it is my pregnant duty. You can totally see a difference from the first picture to the last. I used to think I was chunky, but compared to the 13 week picture, I was downright svelte! Well, here it is- the first trimester. Oh, and believe it or not, I lost 2 pounds in the last month...

Holy Second Trimester!

We had our second ultrasound today- it was pretty darn neat! Our baby waved to us and was quite active! There were so many great photo opportunities to be had, but I think that the technician had ADD or something because she wouldn't stop the wand for even a minute! I mean, yes, it was cool to see the baby in fast motion, but I would have liked it if she had just kind of stayed in one spot for a few seconds so that we could watch the baby move... I suppose I could have opened my mouth and asked but... I didn't.... We did get 2 neat pictures though. 1 of them is a full spinal shot which I think is pretty cool- you can see an elbow and arm below it. The other good one is (of course) a profile of the head. If you look close you can also see the baby's right arm and shoulder and, if you look even closer, you can see it's left hand waving over it's head in the background. I think I have stared at this black and white fuzzy picture long enough to need bifocals, but really, you can never look at your baby for too long... :)

I am in NO WAY going into the details surrounding this chair. I am just going to post the chair picture and it will make me feel as if I have blogged all about it. I love blog therapy. I am going to go have a meltdown now. Thanks for checking in.

Up and Down

I have been feeling so up and down lately- full of energy, then totally drained. I can't wait till I feel that 2nd trimester "new sense of freshness and vitality" that I keep reading about in my pregnancy books! Lets see, today is Tuesday- only 2 more days until our second ultrasound! I am excited because the baby should look like a baby instead of a bean blob! Also, this Thursday, we will be entering the 2nd trimester! I am armed and ready for the tummy growth!

The Apple

I'm feeling pretty tired today- I have been feeling a whole lot better lately in terms of fatigue, but today has been pretty tiring. Mindi and I have been finding it difficult to keep our hands off of my tummy. You can't really see any big changes in me, but it is pretty neat to be able to feel the soft, smooth, ball in my tummy. :) The wee babe is now the size of an apple and as sweet as ever!

12 week Marker & New Jeans

I am pretty jazzed today! We just hit the 12 week marker and I am feeling pretty good. Yesterday was Mindi's bday and we celebrated by going out to a mall downtown. We went to dinner and a movie, and stopped in the Gap Maternity store. I am really starting to become uncomfortable in my jeans, and so we realized that it WAS TIME for my first pair of maternity jeans. It was a little freaky and a little exciting all at the same time. It is disgusting how expensive maternity clothes can be but we got a pretty good deal at FREE after using some ancient gift cards that I had stuffed in my purse :). I am a happy camper!

Extreme Nesting

If the TV production studios were looking for a new reality TV series idea, I propose: "Extreme Nesting". And if I were to be the one presenting the idea, I would show them a picture of me, beginning my second trimester, standing on a 13 foot ladder, scrubbing the siding of my house. The program would make millions...

Just amazing...

I am still having a slightly difficult time wrapping my head around the fact that I have a baby growing inside me- despite the potbelly pig thing... I found this great picture of a fetus around my baby's development level...

Potbelly Pig

I am finding myself having some serious body image issues right this moment... I really feel like a potbelly pig. I guess it is a good thing that I am getting bigger, but I have to admit, this phase in between the "Normal looking Lynn" and the "Pregnant looking Lynn" is a killer. I mean, I feel like my body is the result of eating McDonald's for every meal for the last 10 weeks- it kind of brings back flashbacks of the Documentary "Super-size Me". Of course, I have actually been eating healthier, not to mention LESS than I ever did before becoming pregnant. It is a strange phenomenon "eat really healthfully so that you gain weight" It seems like an oxymoron to me... I had read about this phase, but I guess that I had hoped that it would pass over me like morning sickness did. No such luck. Today I am a potbelly pig, and my bikini panties are no longer comfy. Enjoy the 11week picture!

The Lime

Did you know that a new baby is born every 8 seconds? I just read that somewhere and thought it was interesting. Anyways, I have found that I miraculously have more energy in the last few days than I have had for a long long time. Mindi and I enjoy a hobby called letterboxing which is a bit like a scavenger hunt and you can find clues about the whereabouts online. For more information about letterboxing, check out or Anyways... yesterday, Mindi and I found 7- that's right, 7 boxes and I never skipped a beat. AND as soon as we got home from our 5 hour hiking experience, I proceeded to weed my garden... I am quite surprised at the sudden burst of energy- I expected it to come a little later, but I am grateful for it nonetheless.

And now, our baby is currently the size of a large lime. -Oh! And my friend Stacey?? Her son was born at 5:45 this morning! YAY STACEY!!!
